Katherine Ryan was unveiled as the star performing as Pigeon during Saturday evening’s The Masked Singer.
And now, the Canadian comedian, 39, has revealed her show secrets, including why she chose that character and why she decided to put on an Essex accent.
Speaking on her podcast Katherine Ryan: Telling Everybody Everything, the celebrity – who was eight months pregnant at the time of filming – said she was drawn to that outfit because ‘it didn’t have a small waist’ and she could be ‘a little bit naughty’.
She said: ‘They showed me a few costumes that they had on the go. Some of the costumes had faces and some didn’t. And I never want to be something without a face. I just don’t feel like I connect as a viewer as much to the ones without a face.
‘They showed me some sexy costumes. And then they showed me pigeon, and I thought to myself, yeah, that’s the one. I want to be an old bird.
Behind-the-scenes: Katherine Ryan, 39, revealed her show secrets, including why she chose the Pigeon character and why she decided to put on an Essex accent
‘Not too much glamour, certainly no little waist because I was pregnant at that time. I think I was six months pregnant when they started making the costume and I didn’t know how big I would be by eight months pregnant.
‘And I just thought yeah, give me this old Nana pigeon. I love Nana’s. I feel like they can get away with being a little bit naughty.
‘Nana pigeon could have the Essex accent that I could do. She could also have a taste in music that doesn’t match her age.’
On the show, plenty of viewers joked that the Pigeon could be The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins.
But speaking about the accent she said: ‘I can only do a sort of Essex accent because I watch so much reality TV.’
Explaining why she decided to take up a different voice, she said: ‘When I’m out in the world, no one really recognises me that often until I speak and then they know it’s me.
‘So I thought alright, I am very competitive. I wanted to play the game. And so I thought I’ll do an Essex accent.
‘I don’t do it perfectly, but it’s the accent that I come closest to pulling off in the UK. And you know, even if it sounds like someone doing a fake accent they might think it’s a Scottish person or some type of northerner not doing an Essex accent right so I could get away with it.’

Katherine was booted out of the show after she was left in the bottom two after receiving the least amount of votes alongside co-star Jacket Potato when the episode aired last weekend.
Before Katherine was unmasked, panellist Jonathan Ross guessed it was actress Liza Tarbuck in the Pigeon costume while Rita Ora predicted model Jodie Kidd, Davina McCall said Loose Woman Nadia Sawalha and Mo Gilligan guessed actress Emily Atack.
Meanwhile, since filming, Katherine admitted she suffered with mastitis – an inflammation of breast tissue that sometimes involves an infection and often occurs alongside breast feeding.
Attending a gig in Telford, Katherine recalled on her podcast how despite having a high temperature, she pushed through.
She said: ‘I had to work Friday night. You guys know I will drag myself bleeding down the motorway to get to work so I wasn’t going to cancel.
‘It was this amazing event. I have to say if anyone listening was at this event, the girls especially looked glamorous. I think anyone in the room could have f****d Pete Davidson that night.
‘It wasn’t my best performance, maybe a b minus. I hadn’t done stand up in a long time.
‘I think the last time was mid November at an event before Fenna was born. And I just felt a little bit rusty. Plus, I was very very ill. But I had to be there.’
Amused: Joking that some viewers thought it was former The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins performing as Pigeon, Katherine said: ‘I can only do a sort of Essex accent’

This comes as Katherine revealed she refused to tell her daughter Violet, 12, she was taking part in the show because she was convinced she’d be unable to keep it a secret and ‘would spill it to the whole school’.
Taking to Instagram Katherine shared a clip of Violet who was in total shock when Katherine lifted the head of the pigeon costume off during the pre-recorded episode of the show.
Katherine had attempted to convince her it was former The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins competing.
Outraged her mother had not told her she was appearing on The Masked Singer, Violet raised her hands in the air as she was stunned by what she saw on screen.
