Ways To Customize Your Kitchen

Published on:

No one wants their kitchen to look drab, boring, or just like the home next door. Making your kitchen unique does not have to be complicated in terms of grand sweeping changes, but they definitely can be if that is what you want. No matter what you want to do in order to make your kitchen unique, you will have to be creative and, maybe, a bit adventurous.

Open New Doors

There are so many aspects of a kitchen that are simply taken for granted: the refrigerator will look a certain way because how many ways can a fridge look? While this may be true for appliances to a certain extent this is not true of every aspect of the kitchen, and it is certainly not true about your cabinet and pantry doors. There are a number of options that can give your kitchen a custom look that differentiates it from the uniform, cookie-cutter look that is often found in kitchens.

Pop On Some Color

Once you have those custom doors on your cabinets and pantry, then you can further individualize your kitchen with paint. Choosing a unique paint color is a fantastic way to give your kitchen a pop of color if that suits you. Or, if you are so bold, you may decide to be adventurous and paint the upper cabinets and lower cabinets in different colors. This will really provide you with a personalized kitchen that makes a statement.

Charge Up the Hardware

The cabinets and pantry really are central to making a kitchen stand out from the crowd. In addition to the door and the unique paint color, installing interesting hardware is the perfect way to add additional character to a kitchen. There are a variety of shapes and finishes, and mixing and matching these shapes and finishes is an option as well. Mixing different finishes on the upper and lower cabinets or choosing hardware that changes color when touched can be just the way to further individualize a kitchen.

Light Up the Room

Just as you can add character to your kitchen with your hardware with a variety of shapes and finishes, the same is true for light fixtures. Light fixtures are a central part of any kitchen because the light draws the eye to them. So, if you are seriously committed to making your kitchen one-of-a-kind, then you have to factor in your light fixtures. Do you want a chandelier, pendant lights, track lighting or a combination of a few different styles? Your options really are extensive, especially when you factor in the finishes that are available to you.

Upgrade the Gadgets

If a full kitchen renovation is in the works, you may also be in the market for new appliances. While appliances do have limitations due to function, there are still a variety of styles and designs that can help you make your custom kitchen unique and fit with your other design choices. Not only are the style of appliances a choice that you can make, but also the location. If you do not want your microwave above your stove as they are sometimes, then have one installed on your island if that is an option. The key to making your kitchen unique in regards to your appliances is to at least ask what options are available to you, so be sure to ask.

Add Mood and Movement

Finally, if these are options, flooring and tile backsplash are excellent ways to personalize a space and create a vibe that is unique. Flooring can give you a brighter or darker mood depending on your desire, and tile can give you color and movement. These are areas of the kitchen that can really make your kitchen custom.
