Plan afoot to go national, party to lay down vision in next one month: Abhishek Banerjee

With the aim of taking the BJP “head on”, the newly appointed TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said on Monday that Trinamool Congress has chalked out its plan for “national politics” and claimed that “the party will lay down their vision in next one month”.

“We will take on BJP head on, when we foray into another state. We will go there to win the state and not just a few seats,” Abhishek claimed.

He also slammed BJP for its culture of dynastic politics and urged BJP to come out with a policy of “one family-one member” in politics and he will resign the same day.

“They (BJP) have the numbers, why don’t they pass a bill allowing only one person from a family to join politics. Pass the bill, I will be the first person to resign. Let them come out with a policy and I will resign on the same day,” TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said.

Reacting to the “dynasty” jibe, he said that “BJP is rattled with his appointment. “Practise what you preach. Can Jay Shah come out and give up his BCCI post?” Abhishek challenged.

Abhishek Banerjee said, “Sometimes dynasty is better than being nasty!”

Asked whether TMC will fight the election in Gujarat, the newly appointed party national General Secretary said, “Till the time I can work on the organisation which we are currently doing, I will keep the speculations alive. Wherever we go, we will go to win the state.”

“I am not the second in command. The first and the only command of TMC is Mamata Banerjee, that’s it and thereafter the second in command is the entire party and all the party workers”, Abhishek clarified, in response to jibes coming from opposition.
