Madonna fans call for biopic bootcamp reality show of Julia Garner after film gets SCRAPPED

Fans have called for Madonna’s biopic audition process to be turned into a reality show after Julia Garner went through a gruelling audition process only for the film to be scrapped.

Pop superstar Madonna, 64, was planning to direct the motion picture herself for Universal Pictures, but Variety reports the film is not in development any longer.

And after insiders revealed that auditions for the role were extensive and extreme, including 11 hour choreography sessions with Madonna’s choreographer, fans have shared their desire for a show documenting the process behind picking Garner for the job.

During callbacks, actresses did readings with Madonna, 63, and singing auditions with her.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, sources revealed auditions can sometimes involve 11 hour choreography sessions with Madonna’s choreographer, followed by a choreography session with the actual Material Girl singer.

A representative with knowledge of the try-outs called them ‘grueling’, and some of the auditions had been going on for months.

‘You have to be able to do everything,’ a source told THR.

Insiders said drafts of the script culminate with her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour, but the storyline was thought to have had the potential to change as developments to the plot continued.

Despite the disappointing news that the biopic is no more, fans decided to revel in the chance of them getting insight into Madonna’s recruitment process.

One fan wrote on Twitter: ‘Julia Garner won Madonna Biopic Bootcamp for no reason.’

Another shared a picture of hieroglyphics embedded into some clay, and jokingly penned: ‘Vaierty has acquired the never-seen-before footage from the scriptwriting session of Madonna Biopic.’

The Material Girl added: ‘It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men. So I put my foot in the door and said: “No one’s going to tell my story, but me.”‘

News broke in June that Julia Garner, who recently played the fake German heiress Anna Delvey on the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna, had been offered the lead.

Julia reportedly beat out out a string of buzzy names including Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, Mayor Of Kingstown actress Emma Laird and Euphoria bombshell Alexa Demie, as well as singers like Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira.

Madonna was heavily involved in the biopic – not only is she co-writing the film but she is also directing.
