Lynne recently spoke about the ageing process, and says she is more conscious of her looks on-screen.

‘With something like Home And Away, you don’t want to look like s***,’ she frankly offered.

‘Nor, conversely, do you want to look so fabulous that when people see you in real life they go, “What the hell”,’ she added.

As the longest-running female cast member of the show, she argued her portrayal of Irene was suitable.

‘I know I look older on screen and that’s okay, because it’s fitting with the character,’ she explained.

The Sydney-born actress admitted she has become fussy when it comes to working with the soap’s hair and makeup department, putting it down to ‘ego’.

She conceded her physical appearance worried her more nowadays than when she started her career, having a more ‘what the hell’ approach back then.
