‘Got tears of gratitude running like a river down my neck’: Jessie J reflects on her ‘out-of-body’ experience while performing in Rio at time ‘nobody knew I was pregnant’

Jessie J was feeling emotional on Wednesday as she looked back on her performance in Rio – at a time when nobody knew about her pregnancy

The singer, 34, announced she is expecting her first child earlier this month, 13 months after she suffered a devastating miscarriage.

Jessie said she had ‘tears of gratitude’ as she watched back footage of herself at 3am in the morning with her baby ‘kicking inside me’.

In the video, the songstress touched her stomach in her glittering gold jumpsuit as she took in deep breaths to reassure herself after worrying she had rushed her performance for the fesitival Rock in Rio.

Jessie wrote: ‘I am pregnant here. My adrenaline excitement and anxiety were on 1000. You can see me repeating to myself ‘You are ok you are ok’ I felt like I was outside of my body the whole time I was in Brazil but especially in this moment.

‘No one knew and I came off stage feeling like I had performed the show 100 times faster than I should of. Like I sang like Theodor from the chipmunks sped up. I came off and just sobbed. Woooo the emotions / hormones were HIGH.

‘Watching this back and fast forward to now and laying here at 3am feeling my baby kick inside me….”Go on babe”.

‘Got tears of gratitude running like a river down my neck. Life. Grateful beyond anything I’ve ever felt.’

The singer has been very open about her pregnancy, opening up on the ‘overwhelming’ anxieties she has faced so far, including morning sickness.

In a post, the hitmaker called out trolls who had left comments on a recent video she shared, in which she broke down in tears while suffering with sickness.

Airing her frustrations with her 12.3M Instagram followers, she penned: ‘The comments on videos about pregnancy is a whole new experience… It’s very interesting observing how women are with each other.

‘Let me just say this, pregnancy is the most relatable but UNIQUE journey. We all feel it and experience and deal with it OUR own way.

‘Telling someone how they feel or what to feel is just not the way to do it.’

She continued: ‘I’m not even talking about some of you commenting to me, I’m talking about how you comment to and on each other.

‘Everybody is different. Literally. And every story and journey is different.

‘Pregnancy is not a competition. Pregnancy is not who is doing it better or right because not one way works for everyone.

‘I can only speak on the first trimester fully and I believe however sh** or amazing or awful or scary or joyful it is. Gratitude is always there as a given.

‘But we are allowed to feel. We are allowed to do it however WE want. We got this.’
