Heidi Klum opens up about experience in THAT Halloween worm costume

Heidi Klum opens up about the big plans her husband Tom Kaulitz is making for her upcoming 50th birthday, as well as what it was like donning a massive costume of a worm last Halloween, on Thursday’s edition of The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Klum, 49, was asked by Hudson, 41, about the prospects of a big birthday bash when she turns 50 on June 1, and said that she has made it clear to her musician spouse, 33, that it’s a priority.

‘I told my husband, you better get on it, it better be good,’ the Germany native told Hudson. ‘Because every year it wasn’t a big birthday … you’ll always have family and friends, but I thought 50, that’s like a pretty big number.’

Klum continued, ‘So I said to my husband, I would love to now have a big birthday party,’ addressing her spouse, ‘Do you hear me, my love?’

Hudson brought up Klum’s famed penchant for Halloween, telling her, ‘I think you’re the queen of Halloween with the costumes.’

She pointed to Klum’s celebrated 2022 Halloween ensemble in which she dressed as a worm at a party at New York City’s Sake No Hana.

The Making the Cut personality explained the restrictions of the costume, which she worked on with Prosthetic Renaissance’s Mike Marino, as it she was not able to use the restroom or move well in the eye-catching costume.

‘Already three hours before I’m not drinking anything, I’m not eating any anything, because what are you gonna do?’ she said.

Klum continued, ‘I can’t be, “I have to go to the bathroom guys, get me out of this” – it’s not possible – I can’t even move my head to the side, I can’t go here, I can’t do anything. I’m stuck, so everything moves like this.’

Klum said she was saturated while sweating in the costume while at the bash in the Big Apple.

‘I was so wet – it was literally like I was leaving, well it wasn’t a snail trail but it was a worm, ringworm trail, because I was just sweating so much,’ she said.

Klum said she came up with the idea ‘very very long before’ Halloween, and it was an arduous process putting together and fitting into the costume.

‘Because it had to be built, it was like a foam thing hanging and I have to fit exactly in it,’ she said. ‘Also I didn’t want any human body [parts] to be seen any in there, so you know I didn’t wanna see a curve of a breast or hip, so everything was tight and I was literally stick in there like this.’

She said that she could only move from side to side in the costume, and joked with Kaulitz about turning her right side up if she fell while doing red carpet interviews.

Klum previously told The Hollywood Reporter of the elaborate ensemble: ‘It is one thing to add prosthetics to your body – but to be stuck inside the worm body and not really be able to use my arms or feet was not very comfortable – But Halloween is not about comfort.

‘For me, Halloween is all about transforming and being creative,’ Klum said, noting that she was grateful ‘that people are appreciating the creativity and effort to create this as well as all the other costumes I did in the past.’

The supermodel, who is mother to four children – Leni, 18, Henry, 17, Johan, 16, and Lou, 13 – also speaks in the appearance about Leni’s burgeoning modeling career, and plays a game with Hudson titled Heidi Klum Ja or Ne.
