Grand Designs Australia host Peter Maddison blasts The Block and says it should be BANNED from TV: ‘It’s absolute bloody nonsense’

Peter Maddison is no fan of The Block.

The host of Grand Designs Australia says the popular Channel Nine renovation series should be banned from television screens.Ā Ā Ā 

‘I hate The Block; it’s absolute bloody nonsense,’ he told The Binge Guide on Saturday.

‘It should be banned from television because it leaves people with the false aspirations that they can become – in inverted commas – a project manager or a builder or a designer,’ Peter went on.Ā 

‘It’s a joke. It’s a very bad example of the reality of building, the responsibilities around that and the difficulty of it all. They make it look very easy.’

While both Grand Designs and The Block deal with homes being built, Peter says that only his series has ‘integrity’ and shows ‘the real trials and tribulations’ of theĀ  building process.Ā

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Nine for comment.Ā 

Unfortunately for Peter, The Block had a monster ratings season in 2022 and isn’t going away any time soon.Ā 

The Grand Finale saw 1.384million metro viewers tuning in to see the houses head to auction.Ā

Channel Nine made rating history with a whopping 1.692 million metro viewers watching the final fifteen minutes to see Omar and Oz emerge victorious.

The Sydney-based best mates sold their 10-acre property for a whopping $5,666,666.66.Ā 

In the end, they walked away with a record-breaking $1,686,666.66 in prize money.Ā
