Ella Richards says grandad Keith wears her grandmother’s clothes

Keith Richards’ granddaughter Ella has given an insight into her ‘mad, crazy family’ as she appears on the cover of the Tatler wearing leopard print and sequins.

The model, 26, whose parents are Marlon Richards and Lucie de la Falaise spoke about her family’s eccentric style during an interview with the publication.

Posing braless in a cropped suit creation as well as a flamboyant green silk number she said: ‘Most of my family are slightly mad and crazy or weird.

‘They borrow each other’s clothes. My grandfather used to wear my grandmother’s [Anita Pallenberg’s] clothes, and she used to wear his,’ she says, referring to rocker Keith.

The pair were in a relationship in the 70s. Keith famously had three children with model Anita Pallenberg; Marlon and daughter Dandelion Angela. She died in 2017.

He also had another son with the Italian actress, Tara Jo Jo Gunne, who sadly passed away of SIDS in 1976 when he was only two months old.

Keith went on to marry Patti Hansen in 1983, with whom he has two children, daughters Theodora Dupree and Alexandra Nicole.

Back in 2016, Keith himself confessed the majority of the clothes he owns are borrowed from the women in his life, including his current wife, Patti Hansen.

The rocker was bemoaning the fact his wardrobe was raided for the band’s first ever major exhibition, called Exhibitionism, held at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, south west London.

He said: ‘All I know is that I’ve been stripped of half my wardrobe. I still wear these damn things. They’re not history to me – they’re my clothes.

‘I’ll find some more. I’ll tap up my old lady. That’s where most of my clothes come from.’

And speaking about her self-confessed cross-dresser grandad Keith, she said: ‘[He] is very quiet and sweet and loving. He’s a lot more shy than people think.

‘My dad’s more loud You can definitely feel his presence in a room. He is highly intelligent. He knows everything about everything. He’s read every single book ever. So you can’t really beat him.’

Ella reflected on watching The Rolling Stones perform in Hyde Park to 65,000 people last year.

She said: ‘I was exhausted just standing and watching. They’re high on adrenaline, and it keeps them young. It’s so inspiring that they continue to do what they love, as long as they can.’

During the shoot, Tatler surprised Ella with a copy of the May 1993 issue and she realised the cover star is her mother.

‘Oh my God!’ she says, stunned. ‘Can I take a photo? That’s so funny.’

‘That’s at Loulou’s apartment in Paris,’ she said.

‘I went there when I was younger – it looked exactly the same, full of antique furniture and fabrics. There was a lot of jewellery dangling everywhere.’

Ella is currently dating photographer Sascha von Bismarck, and his brother Nikolai is in a relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.

But despite her rockstar family tree, she insists she lives a quiet life

She asserts: ‘I don’t like having to go out anywhere after six. I don’t really go to many pubs. I’m not a big drinker.’

Ella recalled the outfit she wore recently to Tish Weinstock’s wedding, a black vintage John Galliano lace dress with black Miu Miu flats,

She said: ‘I fractured my foot the night before running down the stairs at home and I had to go to A&E. I made it [to the party], but I was hobbling and my foot was black – and I couldn’t wear heels, so I was really upset.’

Ella likes to spend her time on quite a surprising hobby.

She said: [‘Everyone makes fun of me because I love video games. I have always loved GTA [Grand Theft Auto] and Red Dead Redemption.

‘My heart starts beating fast when there’s a scary moment or you have to creep up on someone. I love adrenaline.’

‘I play by myself or when I’m at home [in West Wittering]. I don’t have [one of those headsets] because I would never [go] anywhere.’

The March issue of Tatler is available on newsstands and via digital download from Thursday 2nd February.
