Eamonn Holmes hints at his ITV daytime feud as he makes cryptic comment

Eamonn Holmes appeared to double down on his previous feuds on Wednesday while presenting GB News.

The broadcaster, 63, touched on some of his past falling outs, revealing that there are people who are ‘dead to me’, as he assured that it was ‘good not to like people’.

It comes as the presenter has made no secret of his feelings towards ITV and his former This Morning co-stars Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, after he and wife Ruth Langsford were axed from the morning show.

‘They are dead to me’: Eamonn Holmes hinted at his ITV daytime feud as he makes cryptic comment about falling out with ‘evil people’

Chatting on Shakira’s new ‘revenge track’ about her ex Gerard Pique, the presenter’s co-host Isabel Webster claimed that Eamonn has made amends with everyone he has ever fallen out with.

She told him: ‘You talk a good game about this. You do, you talk a good game about it but actually, all the people in your life that you’ve had ding dongs with in the past, you’re on great terms with now when I think about it.’

And while the Belfast native admitted that he is willing to ‘forgive and forget’ in some instances, there are others he won’t be moving on from.

Recalling his feud with Anthea Turner, who he presented GMTV with from 1994 to 1996, Eamonn admitted that they have buried the hatchet.

‘Like Anthea Turner, I’m prepared to forgive, forget,’ said Eamonn, as Isobel agreed: ‘Yes, see I think you’re quite good at getting over tiffs’.

But the presenter didn’t completely agree, continuing: ‘No, but there’s other people who are dead to me, who have got names that I can’t reveal.’

‘Let’s not go there,’ said Isobel as she shut down the conversation.

But keen to get a final word in, he added: ‘That’s the thing, I think once you cross that… well, there are evil people.

‘Let’s face it, there are evil people, there are. And in the fight against good and evil – which I am good – um, yeah, the only enemy you want is a defeated enemy’.

Despite not revealing who he was referring to during the news show, Eamonn has detailed his conflict with ITV numerous times over the last year.

He and his wife Ruth hosted the Friday slot on This Morning for 14-years, before they were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in 2021.

And last year, he hit out at the show and claimed to not have been ‘treated with respect’.

In an interview with The Guardian over the weekend, he branded the broadcaster ‘sly’ and accusing it of hypocrisy over its diversity drive.

Eamonn said: ‘I joined GB News because options dried up. The ‘wrong age’, at the ‘wrong stage’ – at some point it becomes very hard to get work.

‘It was obvious I didn’t tick the boxes for ITV any more and I wasn’t being treated with respect there.

‘It was a self-esteem thing. You think “nah I’m out of here, bye!” So that was it. And nothing’s changed: I play what I do straight.’

In a further dig at ITV, Eamonn added GB News had been ‘very welcoming’ and it felt ‘nice to be appreciated’.

While he further hit out at the show’s presenters Holly and Phil last year during their queue-gate scandal.

The duo were accused of jumping the queue at Westminster Hall in London last week while tens of thousands of mourners patiently waited for 12 hours at a time to pay their respects to Her Majesty.

And Eamonn made no bones about the fact he didn’t believe his former colleagues and said they ‘messed up’.

Chatting with presenter Clare Muldoon, Eamonn said: ‘I’ll tell you what’s strategic. Why is Holly fighting to keep her job, according to The Sun, but Mr Phillip isn’t?

Clare replied: ‘Who knows? Twitter, last night, was saying she didn’t want to vacate her job at This Morning.

‘Who wouldn’t want to give up £600,000 a year and everything else that comes with it? I think the brand is very damaged. There has to be a change from the top down to the bottom on This Morning.’

Referring to a photo of Holly wearing a mask inside Westminster Hall, Clare asked: ‘Why was she wearing a mask? Is she allergic to the public?’

Eamonn answered: ‘No, she does that. “Holly’s in tears”, but Holly’s always in tears. But wearing a mask – I think she’s quite fearful, germophobic.’
