Noel Gallagher has not ruled out reuniting with Oasis just days after announcing splitting with his wife – who previously ‘wouldn’t let him’ consider a reunion.
The High Flying Birds frontman and Oasis’ chief songwriter quit the band in 2009, citing a feud with younger brother and lead vocalist, Liam.
In 2020, Liam told a fan who asked about a reunion on Twitter: ‘I’ve told you before he’s rite up for it but you know who won’t let him as she doesn’t like oasis music [sic].’
Days after Noel and his wife of nearly 12 years, Sara MacDonald, announced their split, he told BBC Radio Manchester that a reunion is not out of the realm of possibility.
‘You should never say never,’ he said, adding ‘it would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances’.

‘That’s not to say that those circumstances would never come about.’
Noel was promoting the release of his new album, Council Skies, and said he remains in love with writing music.
‘I’m as much fascinated by it today as I was 13 years ago when I went solo and 30 years ago next year when [debut Oasis album] Definitely Maybe came out,’ he said.
He also described the euphoria of being on stage, describing it as a ‘blessing’ that so many fans still wanted to hear his iconic songs from his days in Oasis.
‘You’ve got to accept it and not get too precious about it and be thankful that you’ve actually written songs that still have legs after 25-30 years and not worry about it.’

He hasn’t always been so complimentary about that period of his life, though.
Noel previously said he’d considered reuniting with his former band, but noted he’d ‘only be doing it’ to ‘shut up [his] idiot brother’.
‘I’ve often thought ‘Lets just do a gig’, he told Vogue. ‘But I realised I would only be doing it to shut this f***ing idiot up. The only other thing I could come up with was burning his house down or smashing his car in… but that’s not going to solve anything is it?’
The brothers have been publicly feuding on and off since he quit the band which rocketed the siblings from a council estate to global stardom.
And throughout the years, music publicist Sara, 51, found herself at the heart of the toxic Oasis brothers’ feud.
She told Vogue in 2020: ‘I want to make clear that Oasis is not my story. It’s their story, Noel and Liam’s.’
She revealed she’d engaged a law firm to monitor for any potentially defamatory claims Liam made about her or the children she shares with Noel.
Referring to an online spat between Liam and her stepdaughter Anais, she said: ‘She had a relationship with Liam growing up… and for your uncle to refer to you publicly as ‘his f**king kid,’ I think to myself, how much longer before he goes for Sonny or Donovan?’
She also urged her children not to research details of the brothers’ feud to avoid them thinking it reflected a ‘normal relationship’.

Sara did not ever address Liam’s claims she didn’t like the music Oasis made during the height of their fame.
A spokesperson for Noel and Sara said: ‘Noel Gallagher and Sara Macdonald has confirmed that the couple are to divorce.
‘Noel and Sara will together continue to look after their children who remain their priority. Noel and Sara ask the media to respect their privacy and that of our family at this time.’
But the Don’t Look Back In Anger hitmaker is now said to be living apart from his wife in North London.
