Channel Seven’s Home and Away is making a triumphant comeback in the TV ratings after a patchy season last year.

The much-loved soap drew in an impressive 507,000 viewers in the major metro centres on Monday, putting it in the top 10 most-watched shows overnight.

Meanwhile Married at First Sight continues to trounce its reality TV rivals, Australian Idol and Australia Survivor.

The Channel Nine dating show brought in 841,000 viewers overnight across the five major cities.

Over on Seven, Australian Idol did not come close to matching MAFS’ numbers.

The singing competition continues to shed fans, managing just 410,000 viewers in the metro ratings.

Also on Seven, quiz show The Chase Australia continues to build on its strong performance in 2022, pulling in 462,000 metro viewers overnight.  

Channel 10’s real-life adventure series Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains scored 449,000 viewers in the major centres.

Meanwhile, Home and Away’s aggregate figures – combining Seven’s main channel ratings with its digital catch-up and BVOD numbers – means that Monday night’s episode reached 1.031 million across the country.

It comes after the 2023 season debuted to 519,000 viewers in the the five capital cities, which is, while impressive, the lowest metro audience for a season premiere to date.

The results were lower than last year’s premiere, which attracted 537,000 metro viewers.

The 2021 season attracted more than 600,000 metro viewers for its launch, while the 2020 opener saw just 548,000 tune in across the major cities.
