Carrie Bickmore ‘rocked to the core’ after she saw friends side with ex Chris Walker

Carrie Bickmore has been ‘rocked to the core’ after the couple’s mutual friends took her ex Chris Walker’s side following their shock split.

According to New Idea, the TV presenter was left shocked after she saw a photo of ABC’s Leigh Sales, her former The Project co-star Peter Helliar, comedian Anthony Lehmann and cricketer Adam Gilchrist spending time with Chris at a pub.

An insider claimed Carrie was stunned after seeing photos of her friends spending time with Chris, just days after they announced their split.

‘Sadly, in Chris and Carrie’s case, the fact they all work in the same industry means they’re bound to have buddies go one way or the other. But Carrie is naturally hurt,’ the source said.

However, Carrie’s long-time best friend, Fifi Box has continued to support her.

‘Fifi is really good for Carrie. She’s no-nonsense and is encouraging her to take it a day at a time and to look after herself for the sake of the kids.’

Leigh and Peter shared the photo to social media and both endorsed the embattled producer in a series of Instagram Stories.

‘If you love Hard Chat & The Weekly, this bloke @chriswalkertv is the maestro. Legend and a great mate’ Leigh captioned a photo of herself alongside Chris.

Peter threw his arm around Chris in a second image, which Leigh captioned: ‘Enjoying being an honorary bloke for the arvo with these top lads’.

Carrie announced the couple’s split in an Instagram post two weeks ago, saying the pair was focused on co-parenting their three children. They were in a relationship for 11 years.

‘It’s with immense sadness that Chris and I have decided to separate,’ she wrote.

‘While this is a tough time, our focus is on parenting, loving and supporting our three children Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything that we’ve got.

‘They are doing great, We won’t be making any further comment.’

Carrie and Chris’ love story captured the hearts of Australians.

They met as colleagues on The Project – she was a presenter and he was a producer – and they began dating in late 2012, two years after she lost her husband Greg Lange, the father of her eldest child Ollie, 15, to brain cancer.

Despite his terminal diagnosis, Carrie had married Langue in 2005 when she was just 25 years old.

After Langue died in 2010 at the age of 35, a widowed Carrie started the charity Bickmore’s Beanies for Brain Cancer in his memory.

Two years later and Carrie had found love again with Walker, who became a stepdad to Oliver, and with whom she later had two daughters: Evie, born in 2015, and Adelaide, born in 2018.
