Are the Milwaukee Bucks the NBA Title Favourites?

With the best NBA record, the Milwaukee Bucks have cemented themselves as the title favourites over the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers of the Western Conference.

Led by reigning Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo and head coach Mike Budenholzer, the Milwaukee Bucks have topped the NBA standings this season. They are on pace to reach 70 wins in the 2019-2020 season.

With their star power in Giannis and Khris Middleton, they still possess the strongest supporting cast in the league. Led by Eric Bledsoe, the Bucks’ lineup is 11 players deep.

The team has no weaknesses, every position has at least two quality players. With this depth, Giannis and Middleton have managed to capitalise. The all-star duo has produced wildly efficient statistics at just 30 minutes per game.

They are the best defensive team in the league, coming in 1st in defensive rating. Giannis and Brook Lopez have been great as the defensive anchors. Meanwhile, Bledsoe and Middleton are great perimeter defenders as well. Offensively, they are still among the best, coming in at 4th.

The main competition on their road to an NBA title is the two Western Conference titans in Los Angeles. In the offseason, the Lakers were crowned as the title favourites for the 2019-2020 season.

They acquired superstar talent Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans, providing LeBron James with some support in the big man department. He previously had this kind of support in Cleveland with Kevin Love and in Miami with Chris Bosh. They parted ways with Head of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and also replaced Luke Walton with Frank Vogel as the head coach.

The Lakers pushed to acquire shooters who can space the floor for both James and Davis who thrive when they have shooters around them. Players like Quinn Cook, Danny Green and Troy Daniels were brought in by Lakers management to surround their superstar duo with reliable sharpshooters.

The Los Angeles Clippers are also title contenders in the 2019-2020 season. They had a stellar offseason, managing to sign the two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in free agency. They also traded for all-star Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With those moves, they created a phenomenal team led by Kawhi and George. With that star duo, they also possess a great supporting cast led by perennial Sixth Man of the Year contender Lou Williams. Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell are the perfect energy players who give the Clippers the edge that they need. Their coach Doc Rivers is also a coach who has championship experience.

The Bucks have proven that they belong in the discussions of championship contenders. It has become undeniable because of their league-leading record and phenomenal star power. With the power of Giannis, Middleton and a relatively easier road to the finals in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks have become legitimate title favourites.
