Support for Apple iOS 11

Published on:

Hundreds of new features are included in iOS 11 for iPhone and iPad, including an all-new App Store, a more proactive and intelligent Siri, upgrades to Camera and Photos, and augmented reality technologies to enable immersive experiences. iOS 11 is also the biggest iPad update yet, including new multitasking features, a Files app, and more ways to utilize the Apple Pencil.

Mobile Device Manager Plus is fully compatible with iOS 11’s features, allowing users to do better mobile device management (MDM). All of the new features in Mobile Device Manager Plus are listed below:

Features of Mobile device manager

  1. Remotely view devices

IT administrators can now remotely examine the screens of their managed devices with iOS 11. It reduces the time spent resolving user difficulties by allowing the technical staff to see the problems first-hand. Mobile Device Manager Plus takes advantage of iOS 11’s new Screen Recorder capability that allows users to record and broadcast their screens.

2. Manage classrooms using Classroom 2.0

Many educational institutions have begun to use iPads to conduct classes with the release of the Classroom app. The iOS Classroom app allows teachers complete control over their students’ devices – from sharing documents to remotely lockin devices. Admins can use Mobile Device Manager Plus to ensure that teachers have all the necessary access to their students’ devices without asking students for permission.

3. Manage AirPrint

AirPrint allows users to print documents wirelessly over the air. Though this may appear to be a very useful function, AirPrint allows a valid device to be impersonated, allowing sensitive information to be exploited. To counter this threat, Apple has given MDM solutions like Mobile Device Manager Plus the ability to manage AirPrint permissions. Mobile Device Manager Plus allows administrators to:

  • Guarantee that users only connect to authorized printers by preventing automated detection of AirPrint printers.
  • Print documents with AirPrint. Users must enter a password, which they can save to iCloud and use on other devices later. Admins can prevent this by using Mobile Device Manager Plus to prohibit users from saving AirPrint passwords to iCloud.

4. Increased security with a VPN

In today’s world, a VPN is a must-have for most businesses since it allows users to securely access the company’s network. MDM solutions enable administrators to quickly deliver a VPN to employees. Users can also create their VPNs and connect their devices to the VPN; however, using an illegal VPN exposes corporate networks to security risks. Apple now allows MDM solutions to block devices from connecting to any unauthorized VPNs to prevent this.

5. Addition of any device to the Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager program (ABM/ASM)

Admins may bring devices under administration with ABM/ASM in just a few simple steps. Previously, enterprises could only enroll devices in the ABM purchased directly from Apple or authorized resellers. Admins can now add any iOS device to the ABM portal with iOS 11.

6. QR code enrolment

The iOS Camera app now supports QR code scanning with iOS 11. Enrolling devices in the Mobile Device Manager Plus server is now easier than before, as users may scan a QR code with their camera and enrol their devices.

The performance of 64-bit apps has been enhanced in iOS 11. To run with this version of iOS, 32-bit programs will need to be updated by the app developer.
