Samsung 860 EVO 2TB Review

Samsung 860 EVO 2TB internal solid-state drive is the latest edition to the best-selling SSD SATA series in the world. This device is specifically made to boost the output performance of mainstream laptops and desktop computers. It is a reliable and fast storage device, thanks to its innovative V-NAND technology. The Evo is a faultless follow-up that is focused on providing greater endurance and faster speeds while retaining its low prices. After thoroughly testing both the M.2 SATA and 2.5-inch versions of the 2TB SSD, we can surely say that it is one of the best solid-state drives on the market right now.

It uses 6Gbits/s SATA 3 interface and stacked V-NAND memory, providing sequential writing speeds of up to 550MB/se. Though the company has focused mainly on endurance, the latest Samsung 860 EVO 2TB can withstand 1200 terabytes written (TBW), double of its Evo 850 equivalent. So, whether you are planning to make a new PC or switching solely from mechanical storage, Samsung 860 Evo is a worthy device. Performance

In our testing, 860 Evo did not hit its max-rated speeds, possibly due to driver issues, but we hope it will be fixed in the near future. Besides that, nothing seems to be affecting the performance of this SSD. Our testing exhibited minor but noticeable enhancements in the performance of 860 Evo 2TB over its predecessor. Specifically, there is a 5-20 MB/sec enhancement in both sequential write and read speeds. Also, the 2.5” variant of the 860 Evo achieved higher random write and read speeds 60-70 MB/sec faster.
